The Greenwood Cemetery in York, Nebraska has been an active cemetery since 1882. Among the 11,000 gravesites are numerous burials of veterans from all of America's conflicts including the Civil War, World Wars One and Two, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War.
Included in the Memorial section of the cemetery is a memorial to the 9/11 tragedy including a piece of the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
Greenwood Cemetery is a non-profit run cemetery that has been solely operated by plot sales and grave openings. We recently completed a major fund rasing campaign to undertake several major improvements to keep it looking beautiful. Our goal was to raise $300,000 which was accomplished due to the generosity of many individuals, businesses and organizations.
These donations allowed the board to move forward with many improvements including:
Leveling of the headstones continues to be done throughout the cemetery. The older gravesites that have no family members to personally care for them will be completed as time and money permit.
The Board of Directors wants everyone who has loved ones buried at the cemetery to feel at ease, knowing they are working hard to make this cemetery the best it can be.
As this is a non-profit cemetery, we would ask the families and the community to think of the Greenwood Cemetery in your charitable giving.
Honor the memory of your loved ones by keeping Greenwood Cemetery looking it's best.
Please send contributions to Greenwood Cemetery at 1000 West 8th Street, York, NE 68467
Thank-you.
